Hacker News Widget

The Hacker News widget brings the latest stories from Hacker News to your dashboard. Pick a feed - like Front Page, Show HN, or Ask HN - and browse tech news, discussions, and job postings without leaving your start page.

#How to Use

#Choosing a Feed

When you first add the widget, choose from one of seven Hacker News feeds:

• Front Page - top-ranked stories
• Newest - the most recently submitted stories
• Best - highest-voted stories of all time
• Show HN - projects and products shared by the community
• Ask HN - questions and discussions
• Jobs - job postings from YC startups
• Polls - community polls

Click a feed button to load it. The widget fetches and displays the latest stories.

#Reading Stories

Stories appear in a grid or list layout. Each story shows:

• Title - the story headline
• Description - points and comment count
• Date - when the story was posted (shown as relative time, like "5 hours ago")

Click any story to open the original article in a new tab.

#Context Menu

Right-click (or tap and hold) a story to see quick actions:

• Open in New Tab - open the article in a new browser tab
• Copy Link URL - copy the article's web address
• Share Link - share the article using your device's share menu

#Widget Settings

• News Layout - choose between Grid and List (default) view.
• News Style - set the look of story cards: Clear, Outline, or Solid (default).

#Tips

• Stories update automatically when you open your dashboard, so you're always seeing the latest content.
• Use List layout for a compact, scannable view, or Grid layout for a wider layout.
• Add multiple Hacker News widgets with different feeds to see Front Page and Show HN side by side.
